uk house veteran phil asher arrives on rekids with the latest project in his storied career, a collaboration with emergent london poet & musician james massiah. having chanced upon him a performance during a fiona bevan presents night at dalstons servants jazz quarters, asher immediately approached massiah about a possible collaboration: as soon as i heard james i knew i had to work with him. his poetry is infectious, textured & interesting. time & space took years to imagine but 25 minutes to write. it took james approximately the same amount of time to lay his poem down. asher approached matt edwards with the results, and the time & space ep was confirmed for release on rekids: two original cuts of futuristic house emboldened by massiahs electrifying street poetry, and a reprise version of the title track which steps away from the dancefloor to bring the lyrical content into sharper focus

ian blevins is from england but hes quite the dude. this is his first offering for the esp institute. on side a, meet the happy beast named hannibal, a big room tune that ticks every box your heart may desire bone dry drum production, atmospheric arpeggios, soaring strings and pads, a beautifully sweeping bass progression and an overall sense of euphoria goosebumps guaranteed. on side b, welcome aunt poly cools us down a little bit stripping back the instrumentation, minimizing any superfluous effects, and layering a sparse bassline and droning synths over a laidback 808 all to a relaxed tempo. blevins debut proves that from the right point of view, familiar elements and motifs can take on a new life whilst reminding us just how the rave can feel. these two songs will increase your serotonin levels.
powder is a young producer raised in rural japan, now living in tokyo. she wakes daily at 6am, squeezes onto a packed subway and commutes to a bland office building where her day is consumed by the electronics industry a banal world of blank stares, uniforms, data entry and soliciting phone calls. she cherishes her lunch break, a solitary hour of astral projection where her daydreams cull inspiration for another life, her nocturnal routine. at 9pm the day closes, as her co-workers flock to the izakaya for beers, powder rushes to her micro home-studio to exorcize her daily demons, constructing a tropical temple to house her immaculate vision. she slaves away, unabashed until sunrise, when her routine begins again, however, todays lunch break is an escape into her headphones where she will revisit her soundtrack inspired by lights, colors, hometown memories, and the imaginary worlds where the fruits of her labour will live.

to coincide with the full remix albums unveiling on cd, the exquisite reworkings of all i think about is death and why you feel so low by techno heavyweights radio slave and function respectively, have been singled out for release on vinyl. the former bears all the hypnotic hallmarks of a radio slave classic: incrementally menacing percussive lines woven with the heart wrenching vocal chants of the original over an epic 12 minutes. at once understated and emphatic, the tenor is deepened in the extreme on an ambient atmos version. berghain resident, function, on the other hand treats claustrophobias flagship why you feel so low with a delicate touch: he retains the buoyant hook of the original, underlying it with a thunderous, reverberating bassline, handclaps for days, and a beat tailor-made for only the biggest and brightest sound systems.

the a side * sense of doubt* is a bit more stripped down and melodic, as the b side and also the title track of this release * subterraneans* is more of a jazzy house groove, that simply doesnt stop rolling and keeps the tension with subtle variations and other nice little gimmicks. as always we truly hope that you enjoy these tracks as much as we do and we are happy to have daniel back on board as for sure he can be called one of germanys top notch producers.

after remixing idriss ds alger, eduardo de la calle returns to memento records with a 2 tracker. the spanish vinyl maestro, analog solutions label owner and beatz documentary maker delivers 2 majestic cuts of deep techno at its best, inspired by the early ricardo villalobos music released on kanzleramt or playhouse some 15 years ago. following the same ideas of building and de-constructing sound patterns made up of pure minimal elements, eduardo here tries to be as simple as he can: direct and repetitive, back and forth non stop compositions that take on a life of their own as they expand and contract. the ep was made in a week of intense and mesmerizing studio work. * die einführung* is a 10 minute number where korg poly 61 arpeggios and spellbinding melodies draw the listener down a psychedelic hole of frequency shiftings and lysergic percussions. * sonst werden* is built around hazy chords and ghostly vocal snippets soaked in a feedback of tape delay, sinister ambient sounds vibrating in the background.

following the release of the extraction and hydraulic pressure 12s earlier this year, adventice the incendiary collaboration between dj deep and roman poncet, returns to tresor. while taking the groove up quite a few notches, and as per its two predecessors, exsurgence unfolds in three different versions around a common theme.
the main mix opens into hammering chords yet taking a delicate turn into an synth-heavy refrain. on the flip, the reduced mix follows the same composition while playful and cinematic as the use of hihats add a skip to your step and pick up the pace. the percussive mix and its rapid drum patterns, exude a fragrance of vocals triggering endless soundscapes.
with this new three track single, dj deep and roman poncet deliver a fierce package, another warning for what is still to come for the duo.
